Where table lamps work best

A pair of table lamps on a console or sideboard creates instant symmetry and warmth in an entryway. How to choose

Look at proportions first: a lamp shouldn't dominate the surface it sits on, but it should be tall enough that the bulb is roughly at eye level when seated. For bedside use, 40–55cm total height is typical. For console tables, 55–75cm. We recommend warm-toned LED bulbs (2700K, 6–9W) for the most flattering ambient light.
