How to put a vase and stem together

One vase, well chosen, will outperform three competing ones. For a coffee table or sideboard, choose a low wide vessel filled with a few short stems. For a tall console, choose a single tall vase with one or two long branches. For a shelf, group three vases of different heights with sparse stems and leave negative space around them.
