About trays

Decorative trays for coffee tables, ottomans, kitchen islands, dressing tables and bathrooms. Stone, wood, marble and rattan — the simplest way to corral a small collection of objects into something intentional.

Where trays earn their keep

On a coffee table, a single round or rectangular tray turns a candle, a vase, a stack of books and a small dish into a considered vignette rather than clutter. On a kitchen island, a wooden tray gathers oils, salts and a small dish of fruit. In a bathroom, a stone tray holds a candle, a hand cream and a dish for rings. On a dressing table, a marble tray holds perfume, jewellery and a small vase.

Sizing

For a coffee table, a tray no longer than two-thirds the table's width. For an ottoman, a single large tray (50–70cm) keeps the surface usable. For bathrooms and dressing tables, smaller (20–35cm) feels more considered.

The Scandi tray rule

Three objects of different heights — a candle, a vase or jug, a small bowl or sculpture — almost always read better than five or seven. Less in a tray, more in a room.

Pair with our candle holders, vases and jugs.
