About lanterns

Lanterns for indoor styling, garden tables, terraces and entryways — wood, blackened metal, brass and clear glass. Containers for candle light, pieces of decor in their own right.

Indoor or outdoor

Indoor lanterns sit on hearths, mantles, side tables and floor corners. Outdoor lanterns line garden paths, cluster on outdoor dining tables and fill empty terrace corners. Many designs work for both — the key is whether the lantern uses real candles (best indoors, weather permitting on still days) or LED candles (essential for outdoor use in any breeze).

The Scandi approach

In Nordic countries, lanterns are seasonal: out from October, away by April. Cluster three of varying heights at an entryway during the dark months — they make coming home a moment. In summer, take them onto a terrace or into the garden for outdoor dinners.

Sizing

Small lanterns (15–25cm) work on side tables and shelves. Medium (30–45cm) anchor a hearth or sit on a coffee table. Large floor lanterns (50–80cm) fill an empty corner — paired with a dried palm or a tall vase.
