About travertine vases uk
Travertine vases — sculptural pieces shaped from one of the oldest decorative stones in human history. Each one is naturally banded, naturally porous, and naturally one of a kind.
What is travertine?
Travertine is a sedimentary limestone formed in mineral springs over thousands of years. Layer upon layer of calcium-rich water deposits creates the soft, horizontal banding that makes every piece distinct. Used in ancient Rome (the Colosseum is built from it), travertine has come back into modern interiors thanks to its quiet, organic surface.
How to use a travertine vase
Travertine is porous, so most pieces are best used with dried stems or with a glass or metal water liner inside (we include one with every piece that needs it). On a coffee table or sideboard, a single travertine vase with dried pampas, eucalyptus or a single olive branch reads as quiet sculpture.
Where they earn their place
Travertine pairs beautifully with warm woods, linen and matte ceramics — the materials of a Scandi or Japandi home. One travertine vase on a console can do the work of five smaller decorative pieces.
Care
Dust with a soft dry cloth. If you must clean, use a damp cloth and avoid acidic cleaners (lemon, vinegar) which etch stone. Small marks are part of the material.
